The John Harrison statue has now been cast in bronze as you can see in the photo taken in the foundry in Kent, near to where Marcus Cornish, the sculptor, works. Marcus is still working on the finer details, including the watch that Harrison is winding.

We have had some delays with the stone plinth as the first block was found to have discolouration caused by the presence of iron.  A new block has been sourced and will be delivered to the foundry this October, following which the inscription will be carved.

In the meantime, groundworks will be taking place in the Market Place so that the foundations will be ready for when the statue arrives to be installed.  Once installed we will have the formal unveiling but there are still too many unknown factors for us to say when that will be! We do know that it will be a very proud moment for Barrow-upon-Humber.
